Following our update in September, the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant Project (the Project) is moving forward with the next phase of pre-load activities to prepare the ground for the future weight of the facility. Pre-load for the Project includes five general stages: delivery, placement, settlement, distribution and removal, which are alternated to cover the entire site. With deliveries now complete, the Project is focused on the placement, distribution and settlement of the pre-load.
In order to complete this next stage safely and efficiently, the Project received approval from the District of North Vancouver to temporarily extend working hours for pre-load placement and distribution on the site. The extended hours will be in effect from December 3 to December 21, 2018 and January 2 to February 8, 2019.
What to expect
- Extended hours will occur Monday to Friday between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No work will take place on Saturday night, at any time on Sunday, or statutory holidays.
- Equipment used to transport the pre-load within the site, including bulldozers, front-end loaders and trucks, will be equipped with less intrusive back-up alarms to reduce potential noise impacts.
- Pre-load has been underway for several months, with minimal disruption to the community.
- The extension does not include regular Project activity, which will continue to take place during District of North Vancouver Bylaw hours.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Project’s Community Liaison Officer at 604-928-7810 (24 hours) or email@example.com.
