Notice of Temporary Extended Working Hours

Following our update in September, the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant Project (the Project) is moving forward with the next phase of pre-load activities to prepare the ground for the future weight of the facility. Pre-load for the Project includes five general stages: delivery, placement, settlement, distribution and removal, which are alternated to cover the entire site. With deliveries now complete, the Project is focused on the placement, distribution and settlement of the pre-load.

In order to complete this next stage safely and efficiently, the Project received approval from the District of North Vancouver to temporarily extend working hours for pre-load placement and distribution on the site. The extended hours will be in effect from December 3 to December 21, 2018 and January 2 to February 8, 2019.

What to expect

  • Extended hours will occur Monday to Friday between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No work will take place on Saturday night, at any time on Sunday, or statutory holidays.
  • Equipment used to transport the pre-load within the site, including bulldozers, front-end loaders and trucks, will be equipped with less intrusive back-up alarms to reduce potential noise impacts.
  • Pre-load has been underway for several months, with minimal disruption to the community.
  • The extension does not include regular Project activity, which will continue to take place during District of North Vancouver Bylaw hours.
